SUBMISSIONS
iO is always seeking excellent content to feature in its issues. We welcome submissions from both new and established poets.
POETRY SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
We read year-round. You can submit up to five poems through our submission manager. We only consider poems sent through our Submishmash submission manager—submissions sent via mail, email, telegraph, and the like are all out. Also, we ask you send only one batch at a time.
Please only send us word (.doc or .docx), RFT (.rtf), or PDF (.pdf) files. Include all your work in a single document.
We do not consider fiction, non-fiction, or previously published work.
We encourage and welcome simultaneous submissions. We know we’re not the only journal out there! But we do ask that you notify us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.
We like poems that move us, regardless of style. Send us anything from formal to highly experimental. We’re looking for high quality work across a range of forms.
A cover note is nice, but not required.
It might take us two to three months to get back to you, but we’ll do what we can to make it less. Please do not query about work until three months have passed. We promise we are eager to get to your work!
If we select your work for publication, we will ask for First North American Serial Rights.
